Teaching (and Learning) Remotely

Let’s be honest: no one likes the new academic reality we are faced with. There is no academic or student that thinks “Well, it’s great that I can only be at Uni while wearing a mask all the time, or else stay at home and do all my teaching/studying from my kitchen table, while constantly being threatened by a deadly virus”. No one likes this. In fact, it sucks.

However, it is what it is. We must follow all rules and guidelines meticulously in order to return to our previous modus vivendi as soon as possible.

Also, let’s face it: we lawyers are luckier than others. Remote teaching and learning is easier because we do not require labs or equipment, and almost all important primary and secondary material is now available online.

So, please try to remain positive and do your best to stay on top of things, while also acknowledging that’s it perfectly normal to feel frustrated. If you feel deeply affected and you think you are facing a mental health crisis, please talk to a mental health expert as soon as you can.

Don’t face this alone. Physical isolation should not be transformed into emotional and social isolation. You are not alone.
